Answer Department of Skill Development has surveyed labour and business entrepreneurs for the requirements of language training and invited competent language teachers from educational institutes and public sectors to provide language training for labour in order to meet the industry’s requirement and prepare Thai labour for moving towards ASEAN Community including ASEAN+3 and ASEAN+6. The language training courses are English, Korean, Chinese,
Japanese, Burmese, Khmer, Malay, Vietnamese and etc. These courses are conducted in a form of project for the fiscal year 2014 as follows:
1. Project for improving capacity of Thai labour for moving towards ASEAN Community focuses on improving communication skill of labour so they can communicate more than 2 languages. The number of target group is 20,000 persons with the budget of 37 million baht.
2. Project for improving language proficiency skill both English and other local languages in basic level for labour who would like to work abroad so they can compete with labour of other ASEAN member countries. The project also prepare labour for knowledge and understanding of traditions, customs, cultures, and regulations necessary for them. The number of target group is 2,760 persons with the budget of 7.728 million baht.
