The National Assembly of Thailand will host the 9th World Scout Parliamentary Union General Assembly in order to discuss the main theme of “Roles of the Parliament in Supporting Scout Movement towards SDGs Achievement”.

        The National Assembly of Thailand will host the 9th World Scout Parliamentary Union General Assembly between Monday 12th – Wednesday 14th November 2018 at Dusit Thani Bangkok to discuss the main theme of “Roles of the Parliament in Supporting Scout Movement towards SDGs Achievement”. The sub-themes which will be discussed are as follows:
        1. Roles of the Parliament to Ensure Lifelong Learning
        2. Possible Contributions of the WSPU to Achieve SDGs
        3. Scouting and Parliamentary Roles in Synergizing Efforts in Response to Global Challenges

World Scout Parliamentary Union (WSPU) is an international organization of the parliamentarians who are interested in scouting around the world. It was established by Mr. Kim Chong-Hon, President of Korean Scout Parliamentary Association in 1991. Recently, the association comprises 103 member countries. Mrs. Ewa Thalén Finné, Swedish Parliamentarian, is President of WSPU. Hon. Dr. Thamrong Dasananjali, member of the National Legislative Assembly, is First Vice-President and Mr. Lee Ju Young, Korean Parliamentarian, is Second Vice-President. The General Assembly has been held 8 sessions since 1994. The latest one was held from 31st August - 2nd September 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden.

The foundation of WSPU aims to support National Scout Organization and World Scouting through the activities of parliamentarians around the world in the manner of discussing and exchanging their views to solve problems related to youth and develop youth of the country to be a decent citizen with responsibility and to promote unity, prosperity, peace, and national stability.
