Message from the President

Chair of the 30th APPF Annual Meeting
President of the National Assembly of Thailand

As a forum for parliamentarians of the Asia-Pacific region, APPF provides opportunities for parliamentarians to discuss their common concerns and exchange experiences with a view to further promoting regional peace and prosperity. It is an honor for the Thai Parliament to hold this specific meeting once again after hosting the 4th APPF Annual Meeting in 1996.

As the world is becoming increasingly borderless, we share “One World, One Destiny”. Any change taking place in one country in the region can affect others in different parts of the world. Now already in third year of the coronavirus pandemic, the global community is till fighting the disease that has had devastating consequences for our people’s livelihood and disrupted the development efforts of countries around the world, including their progress towards SDGs.

The 30th APPF Annual Meeting is the first in-person gathering of the Forum since the COVID-19 outbreak. It aims to encourage fellow parliamentarians in the Asia-Pacific region to share views and experiences of the challenges we are encountering and to seek ways to get back on track of national development, particularly on the path to achievement of the SDGs.
